Broadway Stars Perform for Students With Good Grades

The children attending this time are between kindergarten and fourth-grade age

Cast members from the Broadway shows "The Lion King" and "In the Heights" are performing for more than 1,500 at-risk students who've maintained good school attendance and grades.

The program is called A Taste of Broadway. It takes place Tuesday.

Every spring and winter, the program unites several Broadway stars to perform for children brought in by buses from around New York City.

The children attending this time are between kindergarten and fourth-grade age. They'll also see a tap-dancing Santa Claus.

Organizers couldn't get gift bags donated to the children because of the economic crisis. But at the last minute environmental performer Dave Street donated 1,500 copies of his book "How the Land of Litter Became the Kingdom of Clean."
