Brick Tossed from Bridge Injures Woman in Passing Car

A passenger in a car cruising along the Meadowbrook Parkway was injured when a brick dropped from a pedestrian bridge crashed through the vehicle's windshield, New York State Police said Sunday.

The brick was tossed at about 8 p.m. Saturday from a footbridge over the parkway just south of Glenn Curtiss Boulevard in Uniondale.

It smashed through the windshield of a northbound 1996 BMW, striking a 21-year-old male driver and his 22-year-old woman passenger, police said. The identities of both weren't disclosed by police.

The woman, a West Hempstead resident, sustained an injury to her left eye and bruising to her mouth, investigators said. She was treated and released from Nassau University Medical Center.

The driver, an Island Park resident, was struck in the shoulder, but declined medical attention, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the state police in Farmingdale at 631-756-3300.
