Brick Impales Roof of Moving MTA Bus, Injuring Rider Inside: Police

Someone threw a brick on top of a moving MTA bus as it traveled through the Bronx Sunday night, leaving a gaping hole in the roof and injuring a 19-year-old rider inside, authorities say.

It wasn't immediately clear from what height the brick was thrown on the bus, which was hit as it moved along Ogden Avenue around 9:15 p.m. There were about 25 people on the bus at the time; the 19-year-old was the only one hurt.

The victim was taken to a hospital with a leg injury and is expected to be OK.

The MTA says the bus, which was on its route in Highbridge at the time, was taken out of service. The investigation is ongoing.
