Brick-Battered Section of First Avenue Reopens

Traffic is moving along on First Avenue on Manhattan's Upper East Side for the first time in nearly a week.

A portion of First Avenue was shut down nearly a week ago when crumbling bricks fell off the facade of a high-rise.

The closure affected an area between 61st and 64th Streets. East 63rd Street also had been closed between Second and York avenues.

The bicycle lanes in that area remain closed, police said.
