Bozos Torch Cop Car in Front of Stationhouse

Here's a tip: If you're dumb enough to torch a police car, don't do it in front of the stationhouse.

Two morons were miffed that they got busted for drinking in public and opted to retaliate by setting a squad car on fire. Thing is, they torched the vehicle in front of an NYPD stationhouse and immediately got cuffed again, cops told the Daily News

"Braniacs these boys are not," a police source told the paper.

Far from it. Michael Bower, 18, and his 22-year-old bud Carlos Ortiz were issued summonses after they were arrested in the Bronx for drinking and disorderly conduct at 2 a.m. Friday.

Once they were freed, the geniuses purchased motor oil at a gas station across the street, doused a patrol car in oil and possibly another accelerant, and struck a match.

The squad car's front bumper was beginning to disintegrate amid the flames when an NYPD lieutenant saw it on his way to the stationhouse. The lieutenant and another cop located witnesses who named Bower and Ortiz as the arsonists, and apprehended the two nearby, according to the News.

It wasn't hard. Even without the witnesses, Bower and Ortiz wouldn't have gotten far. Surveillance video at the gas station and the stationhouse caught them in the act.

"They are pretty stupid … They did it right on camera," a cop told the News.

The bumper of the car was a bit burned and the left front door was scorched, but the vehicle still worked.

"This being the Bronx, they'll probably throw some paint on it and put it back on the road," a police source told the News.
