    An 11-year-old boy riding a bicycle is in the hospital after being struck by a car in Queens and tossed into the air, and police have arrested the driver who allegedly fled the scene after hitting the child. 

    Police say the boy was riding his bike near the intersection of Healy and Dickens streets in Far Rockaway just before 8 p.m. Monday when a black sedan, possibly a Honda Accord, slammed into him and kept going.

    Police said the boy was thrown into the air and came down several car lengths away from the initial spot of impact. 

    The boy was taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital in serious condition, but officials say he is expected to survive. He is suffering from internal injuries.

    An 11-year-old boy riding a bicycle is in the hospital after being struck by a car that fled.

    Police said Tuesday afternoon they've arrested 31-year-old Aghostinho Sinclair of Queens in the hit-and-run. His dented vehicle was found on a street not far from the scene, and he surrendered around noon Tuesday.

    He's facing charges of reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated unlicensed operation. It's not clear if he has an attorney.  

    No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
