A woman and her boyfriend face now face manslaughter charges in the death of the woman's 7-year-old son, who was found unconscious with broken bones in a bathtub at a New Jersey apartment over the weekend.

The medical examiner ruled the death of Michael Moore a homicide Friday. Charges against his mother, 28-year-old Khadejrah Rawls, and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Christopher Spearman, were upgraded from aggravated assault to aggravated manslaughter as a result of the medical examiner's findings.

The duo had previously been charged with assault based on the child's injuries, which included broken bones.

Attorney information for the two wasn't immediately available.

Authorities said that the boy's four siblings, his mother and her boyfriend all lived in the Newark apartment on North Munn Avenue, along with three puppies. All of them were removed from the home.

Moore's death came a little more than a month before his eighth birthday.
