Suspect in Bronx Bodega Shooting Apprehended in South Carolina: Police

The suspect wanted in connection with the August shooting of a 37-year-old customer in a Bronx bodega has been been taken into custody in South Carolina, police say.

The unidentified suspect is awaiting extradition to New York after he was apprehended earlier this week.

He was allegedly caught on camera shooting the customer several times at close range and whipping him in the face with his gun at the Webster Avenue store in Claremont Aug. 2.

Surveillance footage from the store shows the customer trying to run away as someone fires several shots, hitting the man in the body. The customer falls to the ground, and the shooter walks up and fires several more shots before hitting the victim in the face with the gun.

At the time, the victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition, police say. His current condition wasn't immediately clear.
