A blue-haired woman stabbed a train passenger in the stomach after he punched her for stepping on his foot and spitting on him, police sources say.

The woman and the male passenger were riding a southbound E train in Manhattan around 5 p.m. on Friday when the woman stepped on his foot, the sources say.

At some point during the argument that ensued, woman spit on the passenger, so the passenger punched her, according to the sources.

That’s when the woman stabbed the passenger in the stomach, the sources said.

The stabbed passenger got off the train at Times Square and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the sources. His age wasn't immediately released. 

It wasn't immediately clear what the woman used to stab the passenger. 

The woman, who was wearing a black bubble jacket, stayed on the train, the sources said.

No arrests had been made as of Friday evening. An investigation is ongoing.
