Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum to Reopen With Billy Joel Concert

The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum will reopen the same way it shut down in 2015: with a performance by the Piano Man.

Billy Joel will play the first show at the renovated venue on April 5, organizers announced.

"There’s no better performer suited to reopen the transformed Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum than Long Island’s own, Billy Joel," said Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano. "Billy serves as an exciting reminder of entertainment our residents will enjoy at the Coliseum for generations to come."

It'll be Joel's 33rd concert at the coliseum; his last, on Aug. 4, 2015 was a three-hour send off set that closed down the place with a fitting anthem -- "Movin' Out."

Tickets for the show will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday and will be available on Ticketmaster.

Joel grew up in nearby Hicksville and has spent most of his life on Long Island.
