It wasn't the job he wanted, but Bill Thompson has a new gig.
The former New York City Comptroller -- and Democratic candidate for mayor last year -- has joined the municipal bond underwriting firm of Siebert Brandford Shank & Co.
The company announced Thompson will be their new chief administrative officer and a senior managing director.
Siebert Brandford Shank did conduct business with the City when Thompson was comptroller, and Thompson says he will not deal with New York City business in his new position.

Thompson has already announced his intent to run for Mayor again in 2013.
