President Clinton said Monday that he thinks Mayor Mike is doing a good job running New York City.
At a news conference, the former president called Bloomberg "a great mayor."
The compliment would be a slap in the face for Bill Thompson.
Thompson is a Democratic challenger running against the Independent Bloomberg.
When pressed if he would like to see Bloomberg win a third term, Clinton side-stepped a direct answer, repeated his praise and changed the subject.
