Brooklyn Carjacker Took Off With Child in Backseat: Police

The child was safely located shortly afterward

Police are searching for a carjacker who allegedly took off with a child in the backseat before dumping the vehicle at a gas station in Brooklyn Friday night, authorities say.

Police said the suspect carjacked a driver at Fulton Street and Verona Place in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn at about 9:45 p.m. The suspect apparently realized there was a 4-year-old child in the back and pulled over at a gas station at Atlantic and Hendricks, according to police.

Responding officers took the child to Brookdale Hospital in good condition.
