Bedbugs Force Closure of Brick Township Town Hall

No word how the bedbugs got into the building

The Brick Township municipal building has been shut down because of a bedbug infestation.

The complex will remain closed until further notice. Extermination efforts are expected to begin shortly.

A bedbug was found in the tax collector’s office Thursday morning, Scott Pezarras, township administrator told the Asbury Park Press.

“A month ago we found one a jail cell, and then another in a HR (human resources) two days ago,’’ Pezarras told the newspaper. “You would rather be safe than sorry.’’

The police department is operating out of its mobile command unit because it is housed in the municipal building.  But other township departments not housed in the municipal complex will be open, the paper reported.
