Daytime Talk Show Staffer Killed in Brooklyn Shooting

Police are investigating after a scenic designer for a daytime talk show was shot dead in Brooklyn.

Ivan Giovanettina, 41, was shot in the stomach at about 9:30 p.m. near Macon Street and Throop Avenue in Bed Stuy.

He had left his wallet at home and still had his cell phone when he was found, so the motive for the shooting isn't clear.

His friend and roommate, Alex Wilson, told NBC 4 New York that it's not clear if anything was taken from him.

Wilson is stunned at the loss of Giovanettina.

"He's gone and it means good people don't last forever because of the type of society we live in."

According to ABC, Giovanettina worked on "The Chew."

"We are shocked and saddened to learn of Ivan Giovanettina's untimely death," ABC said in a statement. "He was a beloved member of our team and we extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends."

No arrests have been made.
