Westchester Communities on Bear Watch

Homeowners in a quiet wooded area have a new neighbor these days -- a bear!

Authorities confirm several sightings of a black bear in Armonk, NY. The Department of Environmental Conservation says it's working with town officials to try and drive the bear away.

There are an estimated eight-thousand black bears in New York State.  Homeowners in Armonk are being warned not to leave their trash outside, to put bird feeders away until the winter, and to make sure they don't leave anything scented lying outdoors like candles or even insect repellent.
