Bear Cubs Back in Wild After Mom Run Over

Two bear cubs are back in the wild after their mother was hit and killed on a New Jersey highway

Wildlife officials released two bear cubs into the wild after their mother was struck and killed on Route 17 in Saddle River.

Animal control officers tranquilized the cubs and tagged them.

Animal control officers say the mother was probably trying to keep the male cubs away from older male bears because it's mating season. Both are also underweight for this time of year.

Officials believe they'll likely stay together until after the winter.

The three bears were spotted in Waldwick and spent most of Tuesday in a tree near Midland Park High School.
