2 Rescued After Boat Capsizes off Jersey Shore

The 31-foot vessel had been hit by a series of waves and the pump couldn't keep up with the water

Two men are recovering after they were rescued from the ocean when their boat capsized off the Jersey Shore.

The captain reported the 31-foot vessel had been hit by a series of waves and the pump couldn't keep up with the water about eight miles off Barnegat Light Monday.

Two Coast Guard boats and a helicopter were deployed to help.

They, along with the fishing vessel Jamaica II, found the men clinging to life rings.

Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Andrew Groth says their lack of life jackets could have been devastating had the men not been able to radio their position.
