Baby Sitter Arrested after Tot Drowns in Bucket

Sitter charged with endangering the welfare of a child

New York City police have arrested a woman in connection with the death of an 11-month-old boy who was found unconscious in her home after apparently falling into a mop bucket full of water.

Krystal Khan, 28, was arrested Monday and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said authorities responded to a call of an unconscious child at Khan's home in Queens that morning. The child, identified as James Farrior, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The boy was discovered in the bucket at her home near the intersection of 101st Avenue and 108th Street in Richmond Hill

An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday to determine a cause of death.

Neighbors told Sandberg that the family that lives in the home is known to take care of their own children as well as a few others.

A sign on the door of Khan's home reads "Child care all day, every day.''

Police did not say whether Khan had legal representation. A listed telephone number at the baby sitter's address rang unanswered Monday night.
