Baby Dies After Teen Gives Birth in the Bronx: NYPD

An infant died after a teenage girl gave birth while she was home alone in the Bronx, police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 532 Olmstead Ave. in Castle Hill at around 6:11 p.m. on Saturday.

Authorities said that the officers discovered a 17-year-old girl who had just given birth to a baby girl while she was home alone. The child was unresponsive and unconscious.

It's not known how many months the teen had been pregnant.

An ambulance took the teen mother and her daughter to Jacobi Hospital, where the baby was pronounced dead, police said. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
