A 2-year-old baby boy has died after being found unconscious inside his Brooklyn home in the early morning hours Thursday, police say.
Police responding to a 911 call found the toddler unconscious and unresponsive inside the Vernon Houses just after 3 a.m., according to the NYPD. He was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A police source says the baby may have had a fever, and his mother gave him medicine and put him to bed. She later found him unresponsive. There was no obvious sign of trauma.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
