Man Attempted to Rape 2 Women in Astoria Building: Cops

Police release sketch of the suspect in the Nov. 4 incident

Police are searching for a suspect in an attempted rape of two women in Astoria, Queens, last week.

The women, both 28, were entering their apartment in the area of 21st Street at about 2 a.m. last Friday, Nov. 4, when a man approached them, pushed them into the vestibule and attempted to rape them, police said.

The suspect allegedly told the victims, "Be quiet, I have a gun."

A resident from the second floor came to the vestibule, prompting the suspect to run away.

The victims were taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where they were treated for cuts to the face and arms, police said.
