Woman Dies in NYPD Custody After Having Seizures

Authorities say the 33-year-old woman was first taken to the hospital when she appeared intoxicated

A Brooklyn woman has died in police custody after being arrested on a charge of violating an order of protection.

The New York Police Department says 33-year-old Kyam Livingston suffered seizures early Sunday while awaiting arraignment.

Police responded to a 911 call about a dispute shortly after midnight Saturday near Prospect Park.

Offices found Livingston had a confrontation with a 79-year-old woman, violating the protective order.

Authorities say Livingston appeared intoxicated and was taken to Kings County Hospital. She was released around 9 a.m. and taken to a precinct, then to a central booking facility around 10:30 a.m.

Police say Livingston's seizures started at around 6:40 a.m. Sunday. She was taken to Brooklyn Hospital and pronounced dead just before 7 a.m.

Medical examiners will determine what caused her death.
