Man Dressed as Construction Worker Robs Antiques Store on Upper West Side: Witnesses

The man dumped the stolen jewelry as he fled

A robber dressed as a construction worker left behind a trail of jewelry he stole from an antiques shop on the streets of the Upper West Side as he ran from the store's workers, then disappeared into the subway, according to the workers.

The robber walked into More and More Antiques on the Upper West Side Monday afternoon wearing a safety construction vest and helmet, and threatened workers with a gun, according to witnesses and the store's workers. He ran off with jewelry.

When the workers chased the suspect after he ran out of the store, the suspect started getting rid of his clothing and jewelry, leaving behind a backpack, jewelry and other items near Riverside Park.

He then ran into the subway at 72nd Street and Broadway. Police are investigating at the crime scenes and searching for the suspect.
