Man Busted in 2013 Dog Beating Now Accused of Having Sex With Horses — Twice

A 30-year-old Long Island man arrested four years ago for beating a dog with a baseball bat has now been cuffed for alleged sexual misconduct with horses.

Steven Errante, of Dix Hills, was required to register for the Suffolk County Animal Abuse Offender Registry after his 2013 arrest in the dog abuse case, but he didn't, authorities say.

Detectives went to follow up with him Wednesday about that, and somehow learned he allegedly had had sex with horses on two separate occasions. Both alleged encounters, which were Aug. 25 and Sept. 4, involved horses at a stable on Pine Acres Boulevard in Dix Hills, authorities say.

Errante is charged with sexual misconduct with an animal and failure to register for the animal abuse offenders registry. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
