Diver Dies at Site of Sunken Andrea Doria Ship

Police say another diver has lost his life exploring the sunken Andrea Doria ship off of Long Island.

Michael Caprade of Gardena, Calif. was positively identified on Wednesday. He and a friend were diving off a boat for hire out of Montauk on Sunday, and was reported missing.

His body was found that day on the ocean floor near the ship.

The Suffolk County medical examiner is conducting an autopsy and his equipment is being checked.

According to Newsday, Caprade is the 16th diver to lose his life at the Andrea Doria. The Italian ocean liner sank in 1956
