Amtrak Travelers Hit by Electronic Ticketing Outage

An outage in Amtrak's ticketing system complicated travel for some passengers Sunday, but did not cause delays in service, Amtrak said.

The problems shut down Amtrak's self-serve kiosks and prevented passengers from accessing electronic tickets. Passengers were instructed to purchase tickets directly from agents when possible, and to board trains even if they were unable to access their electronic tickets.

"We apologize for the inconvenience to our passengers," said Kimberly Woods, an Amtrak spokeswoman.
