Amtrak, NJ Transit Service Interrupted by Accident

NJ Transit and Amtrak service are affected

Amtrak has resumed service at reduced speeds between Philadelphia and New York City.

Service had been suspended Tuesday afternoon due to a fatal accident on the tracks in New Jersey, but resumed a short time later.

A single track is now open for use in both directions.

The accident happened near the Metropark station in Woodbridge Township. But further details were not immediately available.

The accident also spurred New Jersey Transit to temporarily suspend rail service on the Northeast Corridor in both directions between Metropark and Trenton. Service resumed before 5 p.m. with delays of up to an hour.
