Transportation Department Releases 2016 Alternate Side Parking Calendar

New York City drivers are familiar with the periodic joy of suspended alternate side parking, but many may find it difficult to remember which days they can avoid hunting for a new spot.

That's where the Department of Transportation comes in. The body has announced its schedule for alternate-side parking suspensions for 2016 last week, which should help some drivers routing out their parking plans.

On most holidays, other parking regulations will remain in effect. But for six "major legal holidays" -- New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas -- other rules, including meter regulations will also be suspended.
