Algonquin's Local Lure

Hotel cuts rates 20 percent for Tri-state residents

The Algonquin Hotel is running a locals-only special through the end of 2009 that gets guests 20 percent off their room rate plus other perks.

The Broadway Night Out package at the landmark hotel offers the 20-percent discount to residents of New York , New Jersey and Connecticut.

The package also comes with a free room upgrade, continental breakfast for two and a choice of free parking or a daily $25 food and beverage credit per day at the hotel's Round Table Room.

The hotel, opened in 1902, was the favored lunch spot for some of the city's literary elite from 1919. The Dorothy Parker Society also uses the hotel as the stepping-off point for its walking tours. The next one is scheduled for April 18.
