Jet Rear-Ends Jet at JFK Airport, No Injuries Reported: Officials

A commercial jet waiting on the tarmac at John F. Kennedy International Airport was bumped from behind by another airplane Sunday, authorities said.

Officials say the 7 p.m. mishap involved a Royal Jordanian flight from Amman, Jordan, with 159 passengers and a Chautauqua Airlines flight from Charleston, South Carolina, operating under the Delta name.

No injuries were reported.

A spokesman for Republic Airways, owner of Chautauqua Airlines, says the plane was parked and waiting to approach the gate when the nose of the other aircraft hit the plane's tail.

He says the Chautauqua aircraft taxied to the gate under its own power and all 50 passengers and three crew members departed normally. Maintenance crews were reviewing the damage.

The accident is under investigation.

A message left with Royal Jordanian wasn't immediately returned.
