Accused Cop's Instagram Post Ticks Off Defense Attorney

A New Jersey police officer charged in a deadly wrong-way crash posted an Instagram photo of himself in a Batman T-shirt with a message about his injuries and those who died -- much to the chagrin of his lawyer.

Pedro Abad, who was suspended from the Linden Police Department after his arrest, deleted the posting from his social media accounts after getting a stern warning from his lawyer, Mario Gallucci.

"I don't know if he did it; I didn't ask him," Gallucci told NJ.com. "But I did instruct him that if he did do it, pull it off and you are not to do it again while I am representing you."

Abad has pleaded not guilty to charges he drove drunk in the March 20 crash on Staten Island that killed off-duty Linden police officer Frank Viggiano and friend Joseph Rodriguez. Officer Patrik Kudlac was critically injured.

In the post, Abad thanked supporters and those who sent him birthday wishes. He turned 29 on Tuesday, the day after he appeared in a Staten Island courtroom. He also wrote that he misses the men who died in the crash.

His next court hearing was scheduled for Oct. 29.
