9 Ducklings Rescued From Storm Drain as Frantic Mother Looks on

Nine ducklings are back safely with their mother after they somehow toppled into a storm drain on Long Island.

The Suffolk County SPCA got a call from a bank employee in Commack Monday about the mother frantically scrambling around the drain in the Mayfair Shopping Center trying to get to her babies.

The SPCA rushed to the scene, along with two Smithtown Animal Control officers and a worker from the local highway department.

They all teamed up to rescue the ducklings from the drain.

The re-united family was taken to a more suitable habitat on the Nissequogue River.
