Fort Drum Marking 14th Anniversary of 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

A ceremony was held at Fort Drum's 9/11 Memorial to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Officials at the Army post in northern New York say Friday morning's ceremony honors the victims of the attacks and the 10th Mountain Division's continued contributions on the global war on terrorism.

The Fort Drum memorial contains pieces of steel and stone from the ruins of the World Trade Center's Twin Towers.

Moments of silence were held Friday morning at 8:46, 9:02, 9:37 and 10:03 a.m. The times mark the impacts of the hijacked airliners at Towers 1 and 2, the west side of the Pentagon and the crash site in Pennsylvania.

The 10th Mountain Division's brigade combat teams have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan multiple times since the 2001 attacks.
