An 89-year-old woman died after accidentally being struck by her 90-year-old friend who was helping her move her car Wednesday on Long Island, police said.
The 90-year-old was helping her friend mover her 1999 Ford sedan to the top of the driveway at her Windsor Parkway home when she mistakenly put the car in reverse and hit her, according to Nassau County police.
The car kept going in reverse across the road where it came to rest. The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her friend was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Police say the car passed brake and safety tests and that the death was accidental.
