81-Year-Old Actress Beaten in Lobby of West Village Apartment: NYPD

An 81-year-old actress was beaten and robbed in the lobby of her West Village apartment building, police say.

Barbara Ann Davison, who appeared in the Adam Sandler film "You Don't Mess with the Zohan" among other movies, was returning home from the drug store around the corner to her apartment on 13th Street and Seventh Avenue, she said.

A man followed her into the building, then punched her several times in the head and face until she fell to the ground, police said.

I felt a really bad blow to my head...
Turned around, and I saw my big red bag flashing out the door and a guy attached to the other end to it."

"I felt a really bad blow to my head," Davison said. Then she said she "turned around, and I saw my big red bag flashing out the door and a guy attached to the other end to it."

The man had grabbed her purse and ran off, police said.

The NYPD released this surveillance footage of an 81-year-old actress who was attacked in the entryway of her West Village apartment.

Neighbors heard her screams for help and ran to her, at least one of the neighbors tried to chase down the suspect, said Virginia Koenig, who lives in the building.

Davison refused medical attention at the scene.

"Thank god I’m OK -- a little bruised," she said.

The suspect was wearing all black. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

Davison's film credits also include "Going In Style," which was released this year and stars Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Allan Arkin.

She said she's lived in the same building since 1949.
