Reward Increased to $21K for Info on Puppy Found Beaten, Hanging From Tree: SPCA

A passerby spotted the dog and alerted a worker from the Brookhaven animal shelter, who then picked up the dog’s body and called police

Authorities have increased the reward for information on a 7-month-old puppy they say was found dead hanging from a tree on Long Island last month.

A $21,500 reward is being offered for information on the pup found in the woods near Martha and Bellport avenues in Bellport on Feb. 29, according to the SPCA. 

A passerby spotted the dog and alerted a worker from the Brookhaven animal shelter, who then picked up the dog’s body and called police.

The dog had no obvious signs of trauma, but a necropsy found that the animal had been strangled and beaten in the stomach.

The SPCA, New York Bully Crew, the Guardians of Rescue and other groups are offering the reward for for information about anyone who may have been responsible.

The SPCA posted photos of the dog when it was alive to its Facebook page and asked users to call them if they had seen the animal in February.
