8 Shot Over 6-Hour Period in NYC

Eight people were shot over a six-hour period in weekend gun violence around Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx, police said Sunday.

One person, a 23-year-old man, died after being shot in the torso and leg near Williamsbridge in the Bronx shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, according to the NYPD. The other seven people were injured in four separate incidents taking place in upper Manhattan and Bedford-Stuyvesant, all between 10 p.m. Saturday and 4 a.m. Sunday.

Another man was attacked with a gun but wasn't shot, police said.

The toll doesn't include a shootout that left both a police officer and a suspect with injuries.
