8 People Hurt in Multiple-Car Crash in Brooklyn: Police

A crash involving multiple cars on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn early Sunday injured eight people, including three children, police said. The driver escaped on foot.

One victim, a 59-year-old woman, was in serious but stable condition, police said. The rest were in stable condition.

A white Mercedes with New Jersey plates rear-ended a grey Honda on the Belt Parkway near exit 15 at Erskine Street, police said.

In the Honda were the 59-year-old woman and three children, ages 8, 7 and 4, police said. The children were treated and released.

Family members said the woman is the children's grandmother and they were coming home from a birthday party in Brooklyn.

The Mercedes kept going and hit a grey Mitsubishi SUV, police said. Both vehicles stopped and the driver of the Mercedes, who was wearing a white T-shirt, fled on foot, police said.

Four people were in the SUV, ranging in age from 24 to 65. They were all in stable condition, police said.
