A crane lifting construction material spilled debris onto the subway tracks of the 7 train Saturday disrupted service in Queens for several hours, the MTA said.
Service along the line resumed at about 4:15 p.m. with residual delays, officials said. But the line shut down at about 11 p.m. because of a fire at 111th Street, officials said. Service was restored within an hour.
The earlier accident occurred at Roosevelt Avenue and College Point Boulevard and severely damaged the tracks, officials said.
Service was suspended in both directions from Willets Point to Main Street as crews worked to clear the tracks and make repairs. Some Main Street-bound trains were also terminated at 74 Street-Broadway.
