7 Busted on Drug and Weapons Charges: Police

A report of men dressed in red clothes looking into parked cars in a Nassau County village led the the arrests of seven people on drug and weapons charges, police said Sunday.

A Lynbrook police officer responding to the report spotted several men in red inside a Dodge Caravan in a residential neighborhood on Waterview Place, investigators said. When the officer approached the van, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana, police said.

Officers eventually recovered clear bags of what was believed to be marijuana and pills, as well as a black gravity knife, a .40-caliber handgun and a 9mm handgun.

Charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon were filed against Rasean Fulton, 35, and Christine Ruffin, 37, both of New York, Daquan Samuels, 25, Lamont McPhatter, 36, and Jose Garcia, 32, all of Staten Island, Christian Pagan, 19, and Angel Cruz, 38, both of Newark.

Fulton and Samuels were also charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Cruz was also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
