7 Line Service Suspended for Friday Evening Rush

Riders of the 7 line beware.  Emergency signal repair work in the Steinway Tube is forcing outages and delays on the 7 line beginning at 4 p.m Friday -- just before the evening rush hour begins.

From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, there will be no service between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square.  The 7 will operate local service between Queensboro Plaza and Main Street - Flushing.

Beginning at 10 p.m., single-track 7 line shuttle service will operate between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square and will continue for the rest of the weekend.

The MTA says service diversion is necessary in order to make repairs to the signal system in the Steinway Tunnel, which the 7 Line uses to run between Queens and Manhattan.

Planned service on the N train has been canceled to alleviate some of the disruptions caused by the emergency work on the 7 train.
