A 6-year-old boy with autism allegedly kidnapped by his caregiver, a longtime friend of his mother, has been found safe, authorities say.
Details on where Devin Monroe was found weren't immediately available. Police said the suspect, 39-year-old Emmanuel Kolajo, was in custody. The child was taken to a hospital for evaluation but is expected to be OK.
Devin's 38-year-old mom had told officials that she left her boy with Kolajo on Saturday. When Devin's mother swung by to pick up her son later that day, Kolajo told her he was sleeping and to come back in the morning, according to police.
The mother did that and found them both gone; that's when she went to police to report the child missing.
Kolajo is charged with second-degree kidnapping and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17 years old, according to police.
