3 Kids, 3 Adults Rescued From Boat on Long Island

Three adults and three children on a fishing trip were rescued after their boat ran aground on a sandbar in the Great South Bay off Long Island, authorities said Sunday.

The boat's operator was heading eastward when the 33-foot sport fishing boat hit the sand bar, Suffolk County police said. One of the passengers, a 40-year-old man, hit his head from the impact and lost consciousness.

Authorities responded, and the man was taken to the hospital. The other adults and children were safely removed from the boat. One of the children, an 11-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries.
