5 People Shot at Sweet 16 Party in Bridgeport

Police suspect at least two people fired shots

Five people were shot late Saturday night after a fight broke out at a Sweet 16 party in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

City officials said police started receiving 911 calls just before 11 p.m. Saturday about a disturbance at Club Sportiva in the 2500 block of Park Avenue. A fight started inside and then spilled outside, leading to gunshots in the street and a parking lot.

At least two people fired shots, the city said, and five people were hit, mostly in the arms and legs. Of the victims, one is in serious condition but expected to survive, while the other four have lesser injuries.

A number of people who were not invited to the party showed up anyway, the city said, apparently sparking the dispute.
