32-Year-Old Man Killed by Hit-Run Driver in Brooklyn

Police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on Gerritsen Avenue in Gerritsen Beach and found the victim unresponsive with severe body trauma

A 32-year-old man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Brooklyn early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on Gerritsen Avenue in Gerritsen Beach just before 3 a.m. and found Bryan Loughran unresponsive with severe body trauma. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation determined that 50-year-old Michael Casale fled the scene in his Chrysler after he struck Loughran, who was attempting to cross the street, officials said.

Police arrested Casale several hours later at his home in Brooklyn. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death and aggravated unlicensed operation.

Information on an attorney for Casale was not immediately available.
