A 3-year-old girl is dead after the car she was in hit a tree when hit by another car in Uniondale Sunday, authorities said.
The man driving a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling eastbound on Jerusalem Avenue and was trying to change lanes when he collided with a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox.
The 2016 Equinox then left the road and struck a tree, police said.
The 3-year-old girl in the damaged car was pronounced dead at a local hospital, police said. The 66-year-old driver sustained back and neck injuries. A 28-year-old woman suffered from lower leg fractures.
The passengers in the 2017 Equinox didn't suffer from physical injuries, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
