Long Island Pharmacies Robbed Within Minutes of Each Other: Police

Police on Long Island arrested two people behind a string of drug store robberies that happened just minutes apart in Suffolk County Tuesday, officials say.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, two pharmacies were robbed and a third one was attempted at being robbed all within about 30 minutes of each other. 

An attempted robbery occurred at a Duane Reade on Stony Brook Road in Stony Brook at 7:10 p.m., police said. About 20 minutes later, a robbery occurred at a Walgreens on Smithtown Bypass in Nesconset, according to officials. 

Then, about 10 minutes after that robbery, police got a report about another at a CVS on Terry Road in Smithtown. Police caught up to a man and a woman as they were fleeing that scene. 

John Giunta, 28, of Ronkonkoma, and Kristi Larsen, 29, were arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and one count of second-degree attempted robbery, police said.

No weapons were displayed in any of the robberies and nobody was injured, according to authorities. 

They will be both be arraigned in court Wednesday. It wasn't clear if they had attorneys who could comment on the allegations.
