Two people were seriously injured in Brooklyn early Sunday in a two-vehicle crash that left an SUV overturned, police said.

The SUV was driving south on Cumberland Street in the Fort Greene neighborhood at about 1:45 a.m. when it passed through a red light and struck a car on Lafayette Avenue, investigators said. The SUV then struck four parked cars and overturned.

The 29-year-old driver of the SUV and his 35-year-old woman passenger were taken to New York Methodist Hospital. Information about their condition was not available, though responders said their injuries were serious. Their identities were not disclosed.

The driver of the car that was struck declined medical attention at the scene, police said.
