Rock Walls, Zip Lines Coming to NYC's Summer Streets

A seven-mile stretch of the borough is car-free

Pedestrians and cyclists taking the trip through Manhattan during Summer Streets this year can zip through the city skyline, climb up a rock wall and splash down a water slide.

The city announced that it will shut down 7 miles from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park for the first three Saturdays in August.

This year, Lafayette Street and Park Avenue will be shut down from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 6, 13 and 20.

There will also be live music along the route and rest stops at Foley Square, in SoHo, at Astor Place, at East 25th Street and Park Avenue and at East 52nd Street and Park Avenue.

The city is looking for volunteers to staff the yearly event. If you are interested in pitching in, click here.
